Jewell County Community Foundation awards over $46,000 in grants
MANKATO, Kan.— During its spring grant cycle, the Jewell County Community Foundation awarded over $46,000 to fourteen projects throughout the Jewell County area. The following organizations received funding:
- Esbon Rural Fire District #3, $4,000 to purchase safety gear improvements.
- USD 107, $1,376 to complete the purchase of adaptive items, Rainbow Chimes and tether ball, for the school playground.
- Mankato Chamber of Commerce, $1,350 to purchase supplies and miscellaneous items for Making Magic Christmas Memories.
- Burr Oak Volunteer Fire Department, $8,300 to purchase a wildland remote attack system.
- Jewell County Revitalization, $5,683.60 to fund additional incentives for Make My Move Incentive.
- City of Jewell, $2,213 to purchase an updated computer system and transfer of files.
- Jewell Chamber of Commerce, $1,000 to support a fireworks display for the general public at Emerson Lake.
- Jewell Chamber of Commerce, $1,800 to support the Jewell Corn Show.
- Exploration Place, $750 to provide scholarships for BrickMania Agricultural & Animal Care STEM Camp.
- Jewell County Strong, $5,000 to purchase and install an outdoor sign for the Community Wellness Center.
- City of Formoso, $5,000 to prep an area and pay an artist to complete a mural.
- Jewell County Historical Society, $2,200 to pay for the concrete floor under the Threshing Bee Registration Pavilion.
- NCK CASA Inc., $1,000 to purchase recruitment materials for CASA’s awareness and recruitment project.
- City of Randall, $7,000 towards the purchase of the building, electrical work, and vending machine for the Snack Shack.
This round of grants was made possible by two funds at the community foundation; the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which focuses on improving quality of life throughout the county and the Jewell County Community Fund, which focuses on the present and future needs of Jewell County.
